An Expensive View

Last year Town Meeting spent $287,000 tax dollars to preserve the view of the Kimball House in North Amherst. Not to purchase the land leading from the road to the front door but a complicated buy out with the state of APR designation for the land out back.

Umm yeah, I guess you can still see the Kimball House.

Larry, I don't always agree with you, but thank you so much for putting this on your blog. Every time I drive by these houses I feel ILL. I've wanted to take a photo straight on of the houses, because then you see for sure how the back house (mansion?) looms over the beautiful house in front. I grew up in Amherst and have loved this house since I was a little girl, and this just breaks my heart. I asked some people about what has happened and they have told me that they never expected the house to be so close or so HUGE as to over shadow the brick house. Well, I've always said in Amherst the only thing you have for sure- for better or worse- (no matter how little or how much money you have) is your reputation. I have little regard for the people who did this.

Well you have be sure where to place the blame. I think Roger Cherewatti was always very upfront with town officials about the size and location of his new mansion.

I'll check on that because from what I've heard, he was not upfront about the size and location of his mansion. But I will definitely look into my facts as I do not want to misplace my blame. Thanks Larry.
