REMEMBER 9/11/01

It's been far too many beers, too many tears and not nearly enough years--as the pain is still palpable. But mostly on THAT anniversary, especially during THOSE morning hours when the September sun is usually bright against a clear blue sky and daily routine sets a seemingly safe steady course.

Where were you when you heard the news? And as bits and pieces of information first floated in, when did you figure it out? Did you worry about a friend or loved one now suddenly thrust in harms way? Did you wonder what landmark, loaded with innocent people, was next?

Eight years or eighty, we must never forget.

I will be standing silently in town center on the morning of 9/11 from 8:45 until 10:30 (also attending Amherst Fire Department ceremony in front of Central Station at 9:50) clutching an American flag and my two-year-old daughter. Feel free to join me, if only for a moment or two.

UPDATE: Thursday morning (9/10, The Eve of Destruction):

Good Morning Everyone,

Below you will find a Presidential Proclamation half staff notification for Friday, September 11th from sunrise until sunset. Also, attached to this is a gubernatorial protocol for Saturday, September 12th from sunrise until sunset in honor of Specialist Jordan M. Shay of Salisbury who was killed in action.

Below please find two separate announcements for flags for Friday, September 11 and Saturday, September 12, 2009.

Pursuant to the Presidential Proclamation for September 11, 2009, the American and Commonwealth Flags will be flown at half-staff at all state buildings from sunrise to sunset on Friday, September 11, 2009.

Additionally, pursuant to gubernatorial protocol which states,

"The U.S. flag shall be flown at half-staff at all state buildings from sunrise until sunset on the day of interment of any soldier from Massachusetts who is killed in action in a war zone while on active duty,”

Please be advised that Governor Patrick has ordered that the United States flag and the Commonwealth flag be lowered to half-staff at all state buildings from sunrise until sunset on Saturday, September 12, 2009, in honor of Specialist Jordan M. Shay of Salisbury, Massachusetts who was killed in action in Iraq on September 3, 2009.

This gubernatorial order applies to:

1. The main or administration building of each public institution of the Commonwealth, e.g. Town and city halls

2. Other state-owned or state-controlled buildings

3. All state military installations

If you have any questions or concerns, do not hesitate to contact us.

Thank you,

Suzzette

9/11 is not about you. I would be much more impressed if on 9/12 you posted how you lit a candle, helped out a veteran, made a donation to a worthy cause in memory of a 9/11 victim, anything pretty much. I'd be even more impressed if you did something and didn't tell anyone.

Instead you use 9/11 as an excuse for your boorish behavior and as a cudgel against those you believe exhibit some kind of an inferior patriotism. And I'm sure you'll aim some unkind words at me, too.

I know it's probably a waste of time, but I'll ask anyway: Please find a more appropriate way to make 9/11 about the victims and not about yourself.

Andrew

It's a blog "Andrew"--my blog. Telling is what it's all about.

If you don't like my "boorish behavior" then feel free to go elsewhere.

I have done EVERYTHING in your first paragraph--and then some.

It's not about me and never has been: it's about the almost 3,000 Americans who went to work one morning and did not come home that night.

(I don't need "unkind words" for the likes of you, as YOU are an Anon.)

911 was an inside job.

Col. George Nelson, U.S. Air Force (ret) – Former U.S. Air Force aircraft accident investigator and airplane parts authority. 34-year Air Force career.

* Essay: "The government alleges that four wide-body airliners crashed on the morning of September 11 2001, resulting in the deaths of more than 3,000 human beings, yet not one piece of hard aircraft evidence has been produced in an attempt to positively identify any of the four aircraft. On the contrary, it seems only that all potential evidence was deliberately kept hidden.

With all the evidence readily available at the Pentagon crash site, any unbiased rational investigator could only conclude that a Boeing 757 did not fly into the Pentagon. Similarly, with all the evidence available at the Pennsylvania crash site, it was most doubtful that a passenger airliner caused the obvious hole in the ground and certainly not the Boeing 757 as alleged.

As painful and heartbreaking as was the loss of innocent lives and the lingering health problems of thousands more, a most troublesome and nightmarish probability remains that so many Americans appear to be involved in the most heinous conspiracy in our country's history."

Any "Truthers" planning on being downtown on 9/11? I think more people are ready to demand a new investigation, and find some accountability!

Oh man... Larry, I'm not usually in agreement with your statements, but the conspiracy theorists are crazy.

There is plenty of blantant, known evil in the world to worry about ... no need to resort to believing wild conspiracy theories.

such as the evil of the bush administration?

you know they lied about iraq

and they lied about 911 to go into iraq and afghanistan

truth

"Nick Rockefeller told Russo about the plan to microchip the population, warned him about 'an event that would allow us to invade Afghanistan and Iraq' some eleven months before 9/11 and foretold the fact that the 'War on Terror' would be a hoax wherein soldiers would be looking in caves for non-existant enemies.

Rockefeller also tried to recruit Aaron Russo to the Council on Foreign Relations during the tenure of their friendship. Now, a picture send by the Russo family verifies that friendship and strengthens evidence of the global agenda which Rockefeller related to the filmmaker so frankly during their private conversations.

Russo goes in-depth for first time on the astounding admissions of Nick Rockefeller, including his prediction of 9/11 and the war on terror hoax, the Rockefeller's creation of women's lib, and the elite's ultimate plan for world population reduction and a microchipped society

In the full interview, available on Google Video, Aaron begins by describing how the draconian and mafia tactics of Chicago police woke him up to the fact that America wasn't free after his nightclub was routinely raided and he was forced to pay protection money.

Aaron and Alex then cover a broad range of topics including the private run for profit federal reserve, Aaron's experience in the late 80's with the IRS when they retroactively passed laws to punish silver and gold traders, the real meaning of the word "democracy," what really happened on 9/11 and Aaron's relationship with Nick Rockefeller, who personally tried to recruit him on behalf of the CFR.

Aaron also relates how Rockefeller told him that the elite created women's liberation to destroy the family and how they want to ultimately microchip and control the entire population. Rockefeller also told Russo, before 9/11, that an unexpected "event" would catalyze the U.S. to invade Afghanistan and Iraq."

Larry,

How about on 9/11 you mark this somber occasion by not calling your fellow Americans nitwits and cowards for a day?

Larry Kelley said...

Okay you Cowardly Anon Nitwit, TOMORROW I will refrain from calling you a Cowardly Anon Nitwit.

Anonymous said...

Thanks, and I won't call you an Immature Arrogant Thin-Skinned Bully. We'll both feel better.

Larry Kelley said...

Glad to see we agree on something.

"Larry" your blog is about one thing: advancing the Larry brand. And you do a good job of it, too.

But when you link your brand to 9/11, it becomes something repulsive. I'm glad that you've done some less public things to remember 9/11, but think about it this way: If Coca-Cola put out a release on their blog lamenting 9/11 and then saying that they would be holding a silent tribute in the center of town, you would be the first to decry it as an example of the worst kind of crass commercialism. What you're proposing to do is no better. And if you can't see that, you're either incredibly naive or spectacularly callous.

Andrew

Larry Kelley said...

Well "Andrew" if you have been paying attention I have stood in Amherst Town Center every year since 9/11 with a flag when the town refused to fly the commemorative flags (2004 thru 2007)

I don't make a dime off this blog, so where's the "crass commercialism"?

And yes, I thought the 9/11 print ad showing a bevy of airliners bearing down on Manhattan with a tag line about how a Tsunami kills 100 times more people was pretty crass.

I was at work. Saw the plane hit, and my first thought was 'We are at war.'

"Larry" --I don't know what's worse, the prospect that you truly don't get what I'm saying or that you just don't care.

Andrew

The latter.

I'm not big on the 911 conspiracy theory however today's editorial in the Gazette sure did get my attention.

Larry Kelley said...

Not an editorial; a Guest Column. By a retired "sociology professor".

Crap, pure unadulterated crap—that gives every Citizens Journalist a bad rap.

Anonymous said...

as if there is something wrong with a sociology professor. like it is not as good as a health club owner/hack writer who refuses to even look into it a little more deeply.

can someone please post that 911 truth letter....i can't get the gazette.

Anonymous said...

It's hard for me to figure out the "truth" these days. The Gazette article raised some interesting issues. Maybe Ryan as a firefighter could pitch in with his expertise. Question one - does metal melt at 2700 degress F.? Have you seen any metal structures melt at that temp? The article mentioned that metal cuts easily when sulphor is added. The author suggests that a secondary explosion might have been set.
On another point did anyone see my 9/11 tribute in the window of the Amherst Music House?

Anonymous said...

go to youtube and see voluminous eyewitness accounts of secondary explosion in the base of both towers....there is no doubt there were charges set in the basement levels, as well as explosions witnessed as the building was falling at freefall speed, with no resistance.

and what about building seven, only minor fires, yet it came down, along with countless records from many govt agencies and stockbrokerages and banks who made a killing on the market the day before.

don't listen to larry about this, he refuses to take anything but the popular mechanics report. truth is they have been debated and were destroyed in the debates. it is a massive coverup.

larry' "blog".

Larry Kelley said...

Hmmm...So she, a "retired Sociology Professor", writes one "guest column" for the Daily Hampshire Gazette and she's a Citizen Journaiist.

But I who have written dozens of "guest columns" over the past twenty five years for the Gazette and Springfield Republican, plus 14 years a paid monthly columnist for the Amherst Bulletin--not to mention over a thousand Letters To The Editor of many, many newspapers (including the NY Times) am just a lowly "blog".

Anonymous said...

superiority complex coming in.

just because she is not a "journalist", or a veritable genius of a reporter working for the bully amherst bulletin, her level of scholarlyness should not be respected?

i would say someone who has studied PEOPLE all of her life, she might have some insight into the dirty rotten liars who perpetrated 911...ie the bush cheney regime.

go back to your popular mechanics...don't you have a hot water pipe to fix?

Larry Kelley said...

AND...she's being defended by the likes of you--a Cowardly Anon Nitwit.
