Methinks SEIU888 is sending the town of Amherst a message. Probably has something to do with the Town Manager recently being awarded a 9.8% raise, or the million dollar surplus the town has averaged over the past five fiscal years. Or maybe the Devil made them do it.

We will donate to the Amherst Survival Center (at Thanksgiving): $888.00
We will donate to the Senior Center Thanksgiving Dinner: $88.80
We will donate to the Amherst overnight shelter (Craig’s Door): $88.80
In these tough economic times, even though we have been offered a Zero percent COLA, we feel we need to extend a helping hand to our neighbors and colleagues. These funds were rebated back to the chapter five years ago.

Look I make about $33-35 grand a year FINALLY after 9 YEARS of working for the town. Once I pay my rent, utilities, medications and Sallie Mae, I have very,very little to live on. I bring home $400/week and have 0 savings. Paycheck to paycheck from the beginning.
BTW our co-payments went up so now I've got to come up with an additional $150-200 a month for medical bills with "supposedly" good health insurance.
So the Democrat Party's brownshirts are giving a little money to charity. How nice of them. I'll remember it when they're stuffing ballot boxes next fall.
Calling all union members Democratic fascists is a bit extreme, don't you think? Or do you think we don't "get" the brown shirt comment? We don't call YOU names. And we don't make assumptions about you either. BTW, I live in Amherst and pay taxes also -- are your taxes more important than mine? Please let us working people know.
