DUI Dishonor Role

Since it's only his first offense, and he's a young UMass student, safe bet Daniel Huyett, age 21, will get the usual treatment at District Court:  one year probation, 45 day loss of license, take an alcohol training course at UMass and faithfully promise to behave.

Note how many officers are tied up on a DUI incident

After hearing a few DUI cases adjudicated and reading about another prominent one in this morning's Daily Hampshire Gazette, I've come to the conclusion that if it's your 1st offense you really have to kill someone in order to suffer any serious legal consequences.

Although for Mr. Huyett, a legal studies major at UMass, this brush with the law will not make for good resume material.

Well, Judge Kelley, what would you think the punishment should be?

Everyone makes mistakes. I've heard you can get a DUI and still become President.

Oh go ahead and blame President Bush; everybody else does.

I would make ignition locks mandatory after the first offense (rather than the current second offense).

You can also spend your youth smoking marijuana and living with a dealer and become president, even if you weren't born in the US.

Larry Kelley would put a filter to approve comments because he can't take the heat or the real facts. Grow up buddy.

I think it's amazing how you feel the need to publicize people's mistakes, make some idiotic comment, and try to pass it off as professional. This blog is not journalism but rather mocked by most of the surrounding Amherst area. You should get a hobby considering this Dan Huyett will probably go further in life than you have.

That could be.

But not if you keep mentioning his name, as that only pushes this page higher in a Google search result.

I'm sure your Google search results are much worse, sir.

Actually not.

But the funny thing is you spell my last name wrong I come up higher than if you spell it correctly.

Goes to show how often the media misspelled my name over the years.
