Metacomet Cafe, 27 South Pleasant Street, downtown
After probably the longest delayed opening in the history of the downtown, the Metacomet Cafe, finally, opened their doors for business yesterday -- just in time for a sizzling summer.
Fortunately Amherst no longer rolls up the streets once UMass and the Colleges are no longer in session.

-Umass football return to playing games in Amherst
-JGumbo closed and..
-Glazed Donut moved
-Moti closed
-Blarney riots
-Arise open/closed
-Carriage shops closed
-Kendrick place was built (almost)
-Umass basketball played in March Madness
-The retreat died
-ABC was sold
Actually they already went out of business but since it takes them so long to do anything, you won't see the doors actually close till October.
Now, now. Remember the old adage: slow and steady wins the race.
I wish them well with their opening. We've been looking forward to trying out the restaurant for a very long time.
Unless you're eating burgers from this joint all the time.. your race will end somewhere around 70,000 calories.

Metacomet was hunted down and killed. With the history of these guys and their complete lax way of opening, you can bet it won't be long.
Maybe they can have some special Amherst-only menu items such as the Helen Burger, Minced Vince Meat Pie, the Larry (one scoop of mashed potatoes with a tiny American flag on top), the Shabazz Omelette (two egg whites thrown on the floor and told they were racist), the Kruger (a cup of coffee), and finally the El Sasser (whatever Bill finds that morning glued together as a piece of abstract art, served with a day old donut under the table).
Would someone please eat there and post a review?
Nah. I'd rather just trash them and wish them the worst. It's the CAN way.
Tried to have lunch there today. There's a sign Closed Tuesday.

Anyone get a chance to try it? lol
I'm going to give them 3 or 4 years to figure out the new digs and such before going in to try one of their ganga-flavored, gluten-laced shakes. Don't want to rush into things.
Opening (if they are still open) the week of The Taste isn't the best strategy-
